Considering that the piston which operates in the Liner & the friction caused thereof, wears down the Cylinder Liner gradually. However these Liners are sometimes less worn and can be re-used on the Engines on board sea-Going vessels. These Second hand Cylinder Liners are comparatively cheaper & since they are original i.e. of the Manufacturers or OEMs, they are preferred by several Shipping Lines for their Fleet as an economical and reliable option as compared to buying new spares from the makers directly. The Automatic Identification Systems ( commonly referred to as AIS) is employed on Ships in the Main Bridge Room primarily to view the Marine traffic movement in the surrounding area The AIS Automatic Identification System) is also used for avoiding collision of ships.
